December has often represented a lot of things for many of us: festivities with family and friends, the end of the school year, work break-up parties, travel, a lot of ‘hellos’ and some ‘goodbyes’ as well – all interchangeably morphing together into a big crescendo: the ending of a year, and the anticipated beginning of another.
And the talk of 2026 has begun already. Depending on where you live in the world you've been telling me that you're hoping for greater leadership, safer communities, ceasefires, more job opportunities, a kick-start to your business, greater health among friends and family, a new home to rest your head in, reconnection with loved ones, the celebration you've had to put off this year, a more compassionate relationship with yourself, more freedom to move about in your home town, the opportunity to simplify things in your life and, collectively, greater social justice and system reform.
Throughout December while many people are leaping into the planning of their personal hopes, dreams and New Year's resolutions for 2026, just as I did last year, and for now many years before that, I will be choosing to first immerse wholeheartedly in completing and closing this current year more powerfully and consciously, so that I can carry the best of everything that I have seen, learnt, felt and experienced over the last twelve months forward with me into the next.
